We all know what plagiarism is. Recently there has been a lot of different conversations going on about what fits into the category of plagiarism. Teachers are frequently accusing students of plagiarizing and punish it harshly. Should all of the different things that people put into the category receive the same punishment? Wether students are intentionally plagiarizing or not they will still receive the same levels of punishment. But should students be punished for things that they never learned from their teachers?

This is pretty good, but you'll want to work in some of your research. When you claim "conversations have been going on," you'll need to support that with examples. It would also probably be better if you make it active: "Over the past years, scholars have continued to disagree about how writing instructors should approach plagiarism. Some (names) argue...Others (names) insist...
